The Strike4Gaza Coalition of 23+ national Palestinian and Muslim-led organizations across the US that stand in unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people call upon the Muslim community and its allies across the country to join a national strike for Gaza on Tax Day, April 15th. In solidarity with Gaza, we call upon all Muslims and allies in the US including workers, business owners, service providers, parents, students, etc. 1) to abstain from business as usual (e.g., no spending, no work, no school, no banking); 2) to abstain from participation in any form of action that stimulates the economy; 3) join local actions or demonstrations in support and solidarity with Palestine on April 15th.

The upcoming national strike on April 15th is not merely an act of solidarity but a direct demand on the US administration to take decisive and permanent action to end the ongoing genocide in Gaza. At the heart of this matter is the United States’ pivotal collaborative role in the occupation of Palestine as the US holds the power to unilaterally call for a permanent ceasefire and exert pressure on Israel to lift the siege on Gaza. In failing to do so, the US administration has collaborated in the killing and destruction that has claimed the lives of over 35,000 Palestinians, including 15,000 children and the flattening of all forms of infrastructure including over 300,000 structures, including hospitals, schools, and warehouses storing aid. The Biden administration has not only failed to compel Israel to lift the blockade but has actively contributed to the bombardment of Gaza through substantial military funding and flow of weapons to the Zionist regime.

Highlighting the urgency of the situation, the Strike4Gaza Coalition emphasized the need for immediate action to halt the cycle of Israeli violence. Recent military funding, including an $18 million deal for F-18 fighter jets pushed by the Biden administration to Israel coming just 24 hours after the devastating Al Shifa hospital massacre which claimed the life of over 400 innocent civilians, healthcare workers, practitioners, and humanitarian workers, underscores the gravity of the situation. 

This call to action encompasses a simple yet powerful call to action: join us and strike for Gaza. With 3.45 million Muslims in the United States, our collective strength cannot be underestimated. We implore every member of the Muslim community and our allies to stand in solidarity with Gaza by participating in the national strike on April 15th. It’s time to make our voices heard through both our conscious refusal to engage in work, school, and all sectors of the economy, and our resolute presence in the fight against injustice. We call on workers, business owners, service workers, students and every individual who stands in solidarity with Gaza and against the senseless slaughter of Palestinians to heed this call. Together, let us demonstrate our unwavering commitment to ending the suffering in Gaza and holding those responsible to account.

The United States government must put an end to its complicity and active funding of the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people and end its settler colonial project in Palestine. It is time we, Palestinians, Muslim Americans, and allies, answer the calls of Palestinians in Gaza and usher in this change through direct pressure.
